Europe Travel Budapest Gellert Hill

#EuropeanTravel Saint Gellert, an Italian missionary who was invited by the first king of Hungary, Stephen I, is said to have preached Catholicism to the Hungarians, but was caught by pagans and thrown off this hill to be martyred. In the early 20th century, a statue of Saint Gellert holding a cross was erected on the hillside and a memorial park was created. It is a good place to look down on the Duna River, but the view is not much different from the view from the palace. Every year on August 20th, a magnificent fireworks display takes place on this hill. #Budapest
