The Lion Bridge in Budapest Reopens.

On Friday, August 4, 2023, the meticulously renovated Hungarian Chain Bridge reopened to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Budapest becoming a unified city. To celebrate this event, citizens held various picnics, street music, and children's activities on the Chain Bridge from 6 PM to midnight. After dark, the lights came on, and the bridge regained its former glory. After reopening, the structure continues to be the first permanent bridge over the Danube, connecting the once distant towns of Buda and Pest—now the capital of Hungary. The central span of the bridge is 202 meters, which was one of the longest spans in the world at the time. The official name of the bridge is István Széchenyi, who was the main supporter of its construction. It is commonly referred to as the Chain Bridge or the Lion Bridge.
