Brunico 🇮🇹 Loving mountain place North of Italy - Located in South Tyrol A mix of the charming, modern cosy small city is a town located right in the middle of the Pustertal valley into which the Tauferer Ahrntal and the Val Badia valleys flow. Stepping through one of the carefully-renovated medieval town gates, you'll find yourself in the heart of the long Stadtgasse street, which is lined with small stores, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and wine bars. Here, you can immerse yourself in Bruneck’s colourful town life. Looking upwards, discover the Schloss Bruneck castle and above it the Kronplatz. There is a magical atmosphere everywhere and people is nice and very friendly. Eating at restaurants or drinks around the locals bar is very cheap compared to other mountains place in Europe. We discovered an amazing museum located in the main shopping street - South Tyrolean Speck, a protected geographical indication (PGI) of the European Union since 1996, is actually a raw leg of ham that is cold smoked and matures for at least 22 weeks. In the past, this was the best way to preserve it all year round. A smokehouse with an old cooker and an old product scale can be seen as well as other equipment used for its production. Also a feeding trough for pigs, called " "}Fockentrog" "}, must not be missing. The South Tyrol Speck Museum is housed in a small wooden house that resembles a Tyrolean alpine hut with a shingle roof. Amazing holiday here.
