World Cultural Heritage: Bruges

Bruges, known as the "Venice of the North", is arguably the most beautiful medieval town in Europe. It only takes about an hour to get there by train from Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Bruges was once a world-class trading port in the Middle Ages, but unfortunately the port river silted up and was replaced by other places. Fortunately, due to its replaced economic importance, it was able to escape the bombardment of the two world wars, so the medieval architecture, city appearance and atmosphere were completely preserved.
