The cathedral’s main glory is its east end, which the renowned architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner described as “superior to any other building of the same period built in England or even in Europe.” 📍This is a medieval "hall church" with vaulted ceilings in the nave, chapel and aisles all at the same height. The sunlight shines through the stained glass windows and illuminates the interior of the church. The stained glass windows have different themes, some recreate Bristol's involvement in World War II, and some depict abstract paintings of the Holy Spirit. The church displays a slab depicting the Harrowing of Hell, one of the few surviving sculptures from the Anglo-Saxon era.
