The Royal Borough of Greenwich

The full name of the Greenwich area is the Royal Borough of Greenwich, indicating that it is a royal borough. There are only four areas in all of London that have been granted the title of 'royal borough'. An area granted this honor is referred to as a royal precinct, representing the dignity and nobility of the royal family. The naval relics from the World War II period here are very well-known. In 1997, UNESCO listed the 'Maritime Greenwich' area as a World Heritage Site, including the Royal Naval College of Greenwich and related buildings along the coast and for navigation, the Queen's House, Greenwich Park, and more. The Royal Naval College of Greenwich is also a filming location for movies such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
