Explore the thousand-year-old ruins, the Borobudur guide that others won’t tell you

Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its history can be traced back to the seventh and eighth centuries. The six-story platform has more than 2,000 reliefs and 504 life-size Buddha statues. What is amazing is that no adhesive was used in the construction of the pagoda. More than two million stones are all built with mortise and tenon joints. Perhaps to facilitate visitors, only one stone cover was uncovered, revealing a Buddha statue with a kind expression sitting in meditation, as if he is still isolated from the outside world. However, many Buddha statues in the pagoda do not have Buddha heads. It is said that there is gold hidden in the heads of the Buddha statues, so many Buddha heads have been stolen. The whole pagoda is peaceful and tranquil, with birds chirping, which is suitable for quiet contemplation and meditation. While carefully appreciating the exquisiteness of its construction, one can also feel the sacredness of this world. 🚗＞ Transportation: Take GRAB or charter a car. You can also take DAMRI between the airport and downtown Yogyakarta. There is a DAMRI special car at the airport, which costs 75K/person to go directly to Borobudur. In downtown Yogyakarta, you can take bus No. 2A/2B to Terminal Jombor and transfer to a minibus to Borobudur.
