Sayram Lake

Sayram Lake, located in the Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, is a high-altitude lake in the western Tianshan Mountains. It is also the last place touched by the warm and humid air currents of the Atlantic Ocean, earning it the name "The Last Tear of the Atlantic". The lake surface sits at an altitude of approximately 2,073 meters, covering a water area of 458 square kilometers. Surrounded by mountains, lush green grass, and flocks of cattle and sheep, it forms a picturesque landscape. In spring, the ice and snow melt, and everything comes back to life. Summer brings blooming flowers and sparkling blue waves. Autumn paints the forests in vibrant colors, while winter transforms the lake into a fairyland covered in silver. There are many beautiful legends about the origin of Sayram Lake. One popular story tells of two lovers who sacrificed themselves for love and eventually transformed into this azure lake.
