The Giant Postbox in Thailand

The first giant postbox is located on the corner of Sukyang Road at the Clock Tower Intersection in the Betong city centre. It was built in 1924 before World War 2 by Mr. Sanguan Chirachinda, former post and telegraph master and Mayor of Betong subdistrict. It has a radio transmitter on top of the postbox. The purpose is to report the country’s news to the people of Betong, and it is still used as a post box at the present time. Currently, a new, larger post box is being built at the community hall on Sukyang Road.
