Delicious and affordable, it's no wonder this place is so popular!

There are many places that you only truly understand after visiting. You arrive and think, "Oh, so this is what it's all about!" Bengbu gives you that feeling. It's located on the dividing line between North and South China, as the Huai River is the geographical boundary, and Bengbu spans the river, making it a fitting location for the dividing line. If a city is going to attract visitors, food is definitely a major factor. Here, you can find intangible cultural heritage snacks like four-flavor tangyuan (glutinous rice balls), which are incredibly soft and chewy, for just 9 yuan a serving. At Zhang Yu Beef Skewers, I tried fried chicken tail for the first time (they call it "chicken tip" here), and it was surprisingly good. It truly opened up my taste buds to new flavors. I highly recommend Weiwei's signature fermented glutinous rice wine for 6 yuan; it's packed with ingredients. The mutton kebab wrap for 10 yuan is also quite good. We also ordered chuanchuanxiang (a type of hot pot) from another place. Overall, we didn't encounter any bad food here; you can order anything without worry. After lunch, we took the bus to A Cai Lao Pu to check out the Bengbu resident sign. The surrounding area has been transformed into a retro style, perfect for taking photos. A Cai Lao Pu is known for its crayfish, which I've heard is quite good, but we didn't try it. After taking photos, we went to the nearby Huaihe Square to relax and enjoy the scenery. In Bengbu, we truly felt like one stomach wasn't enough. There's just so much delicious food! We ordered shaobing jiali ji (baked flatbread with pork tenderloin). In Bengbu, you can choose your own toppings for the shaobing jiali ji. As long as they have it, you can add it. I asked the owner for recommendations, and they suggested the local favorites: large dried tofu sticks, small skewers of lamb kidney, pork tenderloin, and green peppers. One flatbread with all that cost 10 yuan. This was the best shaobing jiali ji we had in Bengbu. We tried two other places afterward, but neither matched its flavor. This place is right next to a shaobing bakery and uses their freshly made flatbreads, which are amazing. We also tried the famous Xiaoming Malatang, which had a long line of locals waiting. For 10 yuan, you get a set of pre-selected ingredients. It's perfect for those who like strong flavors, but I personally found it a bit oily. We also tried Zhanggongshan Shaomei Fried Chicken, ordering chicken tips and chicken gizzards, which were even better than the ones at the flower and bird market! Highly recommended!!!
