The other side of Beihai Park

You may have heard of Beihai Park with its huge lake and white stupa. It's a beautiful park but very busy with tourists and locals. When you buy your park ticket don't forget to visit the temples and rooms near the entrance. It's not obvious, but up up some stairs to the side you'll find a calm area with a handful of beautifully decorated buildings. We went during golden week and it was deserted, in contrast to the park.
