A Complete Guide to Visiting the Huangyaguan Great Wall

• Tickets: Adult tickets are CNY 60. Tickets do not allow re-entry. • Opening hours: The scenic area is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Please plan your visit accordingly. • Transportation: • By car: Navigate to Huangyaguan Great Wall P1 or P2 parking lot. Parking is CNY 20 per day. • By bus: Take the Huangyaguan shuttle bus or Mubus direct bus, CNY 80 per person. Buses operate every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. Departure is at 8:00 am from the east side of the Poly Plaza Hotel in Beijing. Return is at 3:00 pm from Huangyaguan Great Wall P2. • Recommended routes: • Route A (Relaxing tour): West Gate → Upper Dam Road → Reservoir Dam → Boat trip → Peninsula Recreation Area (view the Great Wall in the water) → Boating → Beach and Water Play Peninsula → Return by boat. • Route B (Fitness tour): West Gate → Grand Staircase → Reservoir Dam → Mountainside Plank Road → Peninsula Recreation Area (view the Great Wall in the water) → Beach and Water Play → Jasper Pool → Black Dragon Pool Peninsula → Cross-Reservoir Bridge → Great Wall Gap → Upper Dam Road → Scenic Area Entrance. • Route C (Historical exploration tour): West Gate → Upper Dam Road → Great Wall Gap → Cross-Reservoir Bridge → Peninsula Recreation Area (view the Great Wall in the water) → Beach and Water Play → Ming Dynasty Chestnut Orchard Peninsula → Return by boat or on foot. • Activities: • Boat tour of the Great Wall: Huangyaguan is the only section of the Great Wall where the mountains meet the water. A boat tour offers the best views. • Magnetic slide: Take the magnetic slide in summer to enjoy the yellow and chestnut flowers covering the mountains. Round trip is CNY 120 per person. • Hike the Great Wall: We recommend climbing to the highest point of the Great Wall for stunning 360-degree views of the lake and the Great Wall.
