Hike through the Beijing Back Garden to admire the mountain peach blossoms.

The Beijing Back Garden, a branch of the Taihang Mountains, is known for its staggered peaks, vast mountains, and the title of "Thousand Peaks of the Divine Ridge." It is one of the famous "Eight Scenic Spots of Yanping." The soul of the thousand peaks, "Zhubi Mountain," got its name because Emperor Zhangzong of the Jin Dynasty visited this place and personally inscribed the two characters "Zhubi" (Imperial Stop). Surrounded by mountains on three sides with only the southeast facing the plains, the unique terrain creates a microclimate different from the outside world. The Back Garden scenic area is vast, mainly divided into two connected north and south routes. The northern route features the Wanfu Stairway, a straight climb built on a cliff, rarely seen in other Beijing mountains. The scenic area gate is at an altitude of 150 meters, while the top of Wanfu Stairway is at 420 meters. The continuous climb of over 200 meters offers almost no place to rest, a must-try for hiking enthusiasts. The highest point on the southern route is 550 meters above sea level. The section above 400 meters on the southern route has a very steep slope, coupled with severely damaged roads, making it difficult to walk and requiring the use of both hands and feet to move forward slowly, suitable for hiking and mountaineering. Here, you'll find the ruins of 1,400-year-old temples and Taoist temples. This was once the birthplace of Kublai Khan's establishment of Beijing as the capital and the place where Qiu Chuji attained enlightenment. It also served as the original setting for characters like Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie in Wu Cheng'en's "Journey to the West."
