Beijing Guacaodi | Winter hiking destination

|Winter hiking destination. Mentougou Guacaodi Icefall is close to the city center and has little traffic. There are two icefalls. The nearby Jingxi Ancient Road is also worth a visit. Along the way, you will pass the Yongding River Natural Ice Rink, which has a solid ice surface and few people, making it a great place for ice skating. 🏃Hiking information ✅Round trip: approx. 2.5 km, 90 m elevation gain ✅90% stone road in the valley + dirt path + one ladder ✅Follow the valley path ✅There are two large waterfalls. The first waterfall is about 1 km from the starting point. To the left of the first waterfall is a ladder with iron chains. Climb up the ladder and walk about 100 m down the valley to the second waterfall. ✅The ice river is near the starting point of the Guacaodi branch road. The slide is super fun. ✅Non-slip shoes and gloves are a must. Crampons are recommended. 📍Search for "Guacaodi Scenic Area East Gate" on your navigation app. Walk along the Guacaodi branch road to the end of the camp. Park on the roadside.
