Baoguo Temple, Beijing

Baoguo Temple, also known as Shuangsong Temple, is located at No. 1, Baoguo Temple Front Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. It was first built in the Liao Dynasty. In the second year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1466) and the 19th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1754), it was rebuilt. Baoguo Temple faces south with the north, and there are four courtyards in the middle and six courtyards in the west, with a total construction area of about 3,000 square meters. There are 34 single buildings in the temple, including the Gu Tinglin Temple, which was built to commemorate the famous scholar Gu Yanwu (Zi Tinglin) of the Qing Dynasty. Baoguo Temple was once a large temple market and flower market in Beijing in history, and it is of great significance to the study of the popular culture during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. In 1984, Baoguo Temple and Gu Tinglin Temple were announced by the Beijing Municipal People's Government as the third batch of municipal cultural relics protection units in Beijing.
