Beijing People's Art Theatre Museum | The Dazzling Jewel of Chinese Spoken Drama Art

🌻 The Beijing People's Art Theatre Museum is located on the fourth floor of the Capital Theatre at No. 22 Wangfujing Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is the first drama museum in China. The museum covers an area of about 1,600 square meters and integrates collection, research, and exhibition functions. It includes a lobby, history hall, figure hall, repertoire hall, exchange hall, academic hall, audience hall, stage beauty hall, and a multifunctional hall. 🌻 The museum displays a rich array of photos, manuscripts, stage art models, costumes, and props as the main body of the exhibition, showcasing the history of the Beijing People's Art Theatre over half a century, as well as the life and artistic achievements of theatre founders such as Cao Yu and Jiao Juyin. In addition, it also focuses on introducing classic plays, stage art, theatre and audience interaction, and theoretical construction among the nearly 300 works performed by the theatre. 🌻 The museum has nearly 150,000 collections, including creative manuscripts by Cao Yu and Jiao Juyin, correspondence during the creative process of plays by Guo Moruo, Lao She, and Shen Congwen, and creative diaries written by performing artists Zhu Lin and Yu Shizhi, all of which have unique historical value. 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Beijing People's Art Theatre. After six months of partial upgrades and renovations, the Beijing People's Art Theatre Museum officially reopened to the public on October 30, with a new look to meet the audience. The upgraded museum has added important manuscripts and historical archives, updated the content of the history hall, actor wall, and repertoire hall, and made the exhibits more precisely highlight the themes, with a more systematic content display. 🌻 Additionally, the museum has strengthened its modern and digital attributes, adding areas for audience check-ins and drama activity experiences, as well as audio-visual playback areas, where visitors can stop to rest and collect commemorative stamps.
