Fragrant Hills Park, Zhiyuan Study

The Fragrant Hills Jingyi Garden, located in the northwest suburbs of the capital within the 'Three Hills and Five Gardens', is the most scenic and highest standard among them. It is a royal garden that uniquely integrates natural, historical, and cultural landscapes with a forested mountain character. Zhiyuan Study was built in the 13th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign of the Qing Dynasty. Along with the Qinzheng Hall, Xulang Study, and Lizhu Tower, it is part of the royal palace area of Jingyi Garden. The courtyard covers an area of 3,430 square meters, with a building area of 723 square meters, consisting of Zhiyuan Study, Yunqin Study, and Tingxue Pavilion, among others. Its name is derived from the saying, 'Without tranquility, there can be no far-reaching goals,' and it was an important place for Emperor Qianlong's governance and administration.
