Beijing - China Science and Technology Museum. The China Science and Technology Museum, referred to as the 'China Science and Technology Museum,' is China's only national-level comprehensive science and technology museum. It was one of the auxiliary facilities for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and is also a large-scale science popularization infrastructure for implementing the 'Science and Education Strengthening the Country' strategy and the 'Talent Strengthening the Country' strategy, aiming to improve the scientific literacy of the entire population. The new museum covers an area of about 48,000 square meters, with a building area of about 102,000 square meters. As a national-level large-scale public welfare facility integrating functions such as exhibitions, training, research, experiments, and scientific and technological academic exchanges, the new museum has five major thematic exhibition halls: 'Science Paradise,' 'Splendors of China,' 'Exploration and Discovery,' 'Technology and Life,' and 'Challenges and the Future,' with a total of more than 1,000 exhibits (sets); it also has a public space exhibition area, as well as four special-effect cinemas including a dome screen cinema, giant screen cinema, 4D cinema, and dynamic cinema. The new museum also has multiple laboratories, classrooms, science popularization lecture halls, multifunctional halls, and one short-term exhibition hall. On May 18, 2008, the China Science and Technology Museum was announced by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage as one of the first batch of national first-level museums.
