When you come to Beijing, don't forget that this is where Wen Tianxiang was last imprisoned in the Si Lao

❤Recommended reason: Wen Tianxiang (June 6, 1236 - January 9, 1283), originally named Yun Sun, styled Song Rui, also styled Lu Shan. He was also known as the Daoist name Floating Rest and Wen Mountain. A native of Jizhou Luling (now Futing Town, Qingyuan District, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province), he was a late Southern Song Dynasty politician, literary figure, patriotic poet, famous anti-Yuan minister, and national hero. He was known as one of the 'Three Heroes of the Late Song Dynasty' along with Lu Xiufu and Zhang Shijie. In the sixteenth year of the Yuan Dynasty's Zhiyuan era (1279), Wen Tianxiang was captured by the Yuan army and imprisoned in the Bingma Si jail. In the nineteenth year of Zhiyuan (1282), Wen Tianxiang left the Bingma Si jail and went to the execution ground to be martyred. In the ninth year of the Ming Dynasty's Hongwu era (1376), the Deputy Inspector Liu Song presided over the construction of the Wen Chancellor Temple on the site of the old Bingma Si earth jail, to the right of Chaishi Shuntian Prefecture School. Wen Chancellor Temple is located at No. 63 Fuxue Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing, adjacent to Shuntian Prefecture School (now Fuxue Primary School). The temple faces south and is a two-entry quadrangle courtyard with an area of nearly 600 square meters, consisting of a main gate, a passage hall, and a hall of enjoyment. The passage hall is the 'Exhibition of Wen Tianxiang's Life', briefly introducing Wen Tianxiang's heroic deeds during his youth, the fifteen years after entering officialdom, raising troops against the Yuan, surviving nine deaths, raising the battle flag again, being captured after defeat, and being martyred in Chu prison. The hall retains some relics of the original temple and exhibits such as Wen Tianxiang's handwriting. The east wall of the front courtyard is inscribed with the 'Song of Righteous Qi' written by Wen Tianxiang in prison, penned by the Ming Dynasty calligrapher Wen Zhengming. In the backyard, there is a jujube tree named 'South-Pointing Tree', which is said to have been planted by Wen Tianxiang himself during his imprisonment. The peculiarity of this jujube tree is that all its branches naturally incline southward at about a 45-degree angle to the ground, symbolizing Wen Tianxiang's spirit of 'A minister's heart is like a piece of magnetic stone, it won't rest until it points south'. Wen Tianxiang, when he was the governor of Ganzhou, was remembered by the people of Ganzhou as one of the four sages; he left behind the eternal masterpiece 'Since ancient times, who has not died? Leave my loyal heart to illuminate the annals of history' during the Battle of Yashan and was enshrined in the Great Loyalty Temple. ⏳Visiting time: Two hours 💰Average cost: 5 yuan for a ticket
