Batu Caves - KL, Malaysia

One of the most famous Hindu shrines outside of India is a cave temple complex located in the bowels of Mount Batu. The sacred rocky hill is located 15 km north of the Malaysian capital. During the Thaipusam holiday, the sacred place becomes the center of a crowded colorful festival. At the southern slope of the mountain rises a 42-meter gilded statue of Murugan, a powerful Hindu deity. At the foot are two grottoes - Museum and Art, filled with religious paintings, statues, altars. A wide monumental staircase was built nearby. Those wishing to climb to the main temples in the caves of Batu Caves, located at a height of 100 meters, have to overcome 272 brightly colored steps. #bucketlistreboot #malaysia
