It was planned and laid out by the architect Harcourt Masters and throughout the end of the eighteenth and into the nineteenth century, it was the popular place to see by the fashionable visitors to Bath, as a commercial pleasure garden with a variety of attractions. Sydney Gardens is a short walk from the city centre, approached via the magnificent Great Pulteney Street, and adjoining the Holborne Museum.
