The paradise of modern architecture in Barcelona.

On May 4th, 2019, I took advantage of the weekend to visit the busiest city in Spain, Barcelona, for two days. Many famous modern buildings in the city left a deep impression on me. During the two days, I visited Guell Park, Sant Pau Hospital, bullring, Sagrada Familia, Arc de Triomf, Castle Park, Cathedral, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Placa de Catalunya, Palau de la Virreina, Columbus Monument, National Art Museum, fountains, twin towers, and Plaza de Espana. I walked more than 20 kilometers on the first day. The most impressive buildings are: 1. Despite being under construction for over 240 years (with construction cranes still present, and reportedly set to be completed in 2026), the Sagrada Familia designed by Gaudi is still awe-inspiring with its complex and massive decorative towers! This church is listed as a World Heritage Site, but I personally find another Gaudi work, Park Guell, to be just average. I think Gaudi's works are too luxurious and not very practical. 2 St. Paul's Hospital, magnificent and palace-like. It is also a world cultural heritage. 3 Palau de la Música Catalana, with its exterior full of colorful glass, tiles, and floral decorations, features a spectacular dome and a variety of rich artistic decorations inside, colorful and magnificent! 4 Sculptures: The Castle Park Tower and the Columbus Sculpture by the seaside are very beautiful. 5 Plaza de España, magnificent, full of artistic and cultural atmosphere. In short, among the more than 30 major European cities I have visited, Barcelona can definitely be ranked in the top five. My ranking is Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Prague, London, Vienna. Of course, I have not been to Eastern European cities such as Istanbul, St. Petersburg, and Moscow, so I dare not comment on them. During the economic crisis in Spain, with 30% of Spaniards unemployed and the relatively affluent Catalonia region in the east seeking independence, street order was not very good. In broad daylight, my selfie stick was snatched by a local young man in his twenties. I was taking photos with my phone at the time, and the selfie stick was in my coat pocket. When I felt my clothes move and turned around, the thief had already run several meters away. I chased him for a few steps but eventually gave up for safety reasons. From now on, I will try to travel with companions when visiting Western Europe.
