| A Severely Underrated Small City in Inner Mongolia. ☀️ Baotou, the shining small city of Inner Mongolia, is famous for its grassland culture, Tibetan temples, Yellow River scenery, Mongolian cuisine, and stunning night views. This article provides a detailed three-day and two-night in-depth travel guide for Baotou. If you're short on time, a two-day and one-night trip is also possible. Please save this for reference. ➡️DAY1 Stay near Baotou Museum ✅ Saihan Tala Urban Grassland (Image 2-3) The largest urban grassland in Asia, currently free of charge, recommended 3h. Walking from the north gate to the south gate, you can see adorable deer, sacred oboos, endless grasslands, and unpredictable clouds. ✅ Yellow River Style Park (Image 4) Free 0.5h. You can view the Yellow River Bridge up close, and there are many popular photo spots, also a great place to watch the sunset. ✅ Northern Weapons City (Image 5) Ticket 15r, entry stops at 18:30, but they don't clear the area, 1h to visit. There are many abandoned tanks, planes, and artillery, a place that military enthusiasts and little boys will deeply love! ✅ Xiangcunju Braised Noodles (Prosperity Road branch, Image 6) Must-order braised meat noodles, add a serving of yellow rice cake, delicious and affordable. ✅ Kundulun Sum (Image 7-8) Free 0.5h. A Qing Dynasty Tibetan Buddhist temple, a miniature version of Wudang Sum. ✅ Kundulun River Wetland Park (Image 9-10) Free 1.5h. Lights on at 20:00, off at 23:00. Baotou residents are so lucky to have such a free lighted boardwalk! ➡️ DAY2 Stay near Baotou Gold Street ✅ Meiligen (Image 11) Ticket 65r, includes round-trip shuttle bus. Huge rocks and waterfalls, the scenery is quite nice. The round trip to the top is 4km, with a climb of 240, take your time and spend about 3h. 🥠 Yuanxiyuan Shaomai Restaurant (Enhe branch, Image 12 top left) Less than 1km from Baotou Museum, an old brand of Baotou shaomai. ✅ Baotou Museum Enter directly with an ID card, luggage storage available. Two floors with many exhibition halls, among which the "Jiuyuan Long Song" historical and cultural exhibition is a must-see. There are two high-level free explanations at 10:00 and 15:00 every day, very detailed! 🥟 Ma Shoujiang Old Restaurant (Image 12 middle, Image 13) A must-visit old brand in Baotou! The crispy bone fish lives up to its reputation, the mutton shaomai and camel meat pies are rich and delicious, and the exploded stomach and tea soup are unforgettable. ✅ Baotou Gold Street (Image 14) Also known as Qiao's Gold Street. Not big but very bustling, the night view is comparable to Chongqing's Hongya Cave, with various snacks inside. ➡️DAY3 Return trip ✅ Wudang Sum (Image 15-16) Ticket 60r, one of the four major Tibetan Buddhist temples in China. You can ask for an explanation, 1h to explain the nine temples open to the public, then visit again on your own. Climbing the small hill on the south side, you can overlook the panoramic view of Wudang Sum. ✅ Deer Park (Image 17) Free 0.5h, many types of deer. ☀️Note: If you are on a tight schedule, you can also do a two-day and one-night trip, skip Meiligen, visit Baotou Museum in the morning of DAY2, go to Wudang Sum in the afternoon, and leave Baotou in the evening.
