Hidden Gem in Bangkok 💎

A 9-minute walk from Saphan Khwai BTS station is Phed Phed Cafe. Its unassuming exterior caused us to wonder if we were on the right track. Google lists its address as 9 Pradipat 20 Alley, Samsen Nai. It is rumoured that customers queue up over an hour to get a table. We arrived at 11am on a Monday and were their first customers! ❤️ Without the queue, we were not able to identify the shop and thankfully, a security guard nearby pointed it out to us. We were still unsure because the ‘front desk’ resembled more of a backpackers’ lodge than a restaurant. Once you enter, the reception will take your details and tell you which table to head to upstairs. Follow the corridor and go up the stairs and you’ll find a cozy dining area. The servers struggle with English but are extremely hospitable. The menu is bi-lingual so you’ll be able to order easily. Highlights: Som Tam! They have almost 5-6 pages of Thai salads which are a must try! We ordered the Phed Phed special and the corn fritter salad. Both were excellent! We also had the fried fish with herbs and a spicy fried rice with pork neck. These were incredible but, as usual, we had over ordered for two pax 🙈 We ended up taking away the fish, which they took special effort to pack sauce and fish separately for us. Generally inexpensive and a hit with the locals (we were the only non-Thais there that morning), you should be able to have your fill for about THB300/pax. Our bill came up to THB890 but the fish itself was THB320 and was just too much for our little party of two. A group of 4 would be perfect! Rating - Super good for adventure and tastebuds!
