Bangkok’s spotlight: The Grand Palace ✨

#bangkok At the heart of Bangkok, The Grand Palace has been the official residence of the kings of Siam. With jewel-encrusted shrines, golden temples & exquisite architecture, it represents 200 years of royal history. This is definitely the most crowded place ever in Bangkok! I arrived 15 mins before opening time and there was already a group of people waiting 🙈 Roughly after an hour, the entire place was flocked with visitors. It’s a beautiful & huge place with stunning architecture, but the massive crowd also makes it very overwhelming. 🕰️ - 8.30 am - 3.30pm 🎟️- The admission fee is the most expensive for foreigners: 500 baht. Everyone is gifted a small bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance. You also get a ticket for a traditional Thai dance show, but it can be a bummer as it starts at 2pm. I didn’t attend as I visited early and didn’t want to spend the whole day there. 👚- Dress code is very strict! Shoulders & knees covered. No transparent or skintight clothing, else you’ll be sent to a shop across the entrance selling those typical Thai style loose pants & T-shirts with prices starting from 100 baht. 🧍🏽‍♀️- You can also join a day tour or hire a tour guide near the entrance. They’re usually standing nearby with boards of their spoken languages. 👉🏼 Don’t shop or buy anything near the Grand Palace. I paid twice the normal price for coconut water and two small packets of chopped fruits 😭 Walk a bit further towards Wat Pho. There are lots of restaurants, cafés, street food sellers & shops with much cheaper prices. ➡️ How to go? I was staying near Wat Pho & The Grand Palace was a 15 -20 min walk for me.
