Wat Chana Songkhram (Want to win, overcome obstacles and get through it well)

Wat Chana Songkhram is an ancient temple from the Ayutthaya period. During the reign of King Rama I, Prince Maha Sura Singhanat renovated the entire temple. After winning three wars against the Burmese, starting from the Nine Armies War in 1785, the Tha Din Daeng and Sam Sop War in 1786, and the Pa Sang War in Lampang in 1787, King Rama I graciously bestowed a new name on the temple as ‘Wat Chai Chana Songkhram’, but later shortened it to just ‘Wat Chana Songkhram’. Inside, we will find a large principal Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, standing prominently as the head of the building, surrounded by 15 smaller Buddha images, making a total of 16 images. This principal Buddha image is named Phra Phutthanarasi Trilok Chet Mahathisak Pujaniya Chayan Takodom, the Supreme Buddha Anavarayana. Or the locals like to call it 'Luang Pho Pu' But one of the highlights of this chapel is behind the principal Buddha image. In this area, there is a terrace separating the rooms into niches to contain the ashes of the Front Palace royal family members. It is divided into 5 frames. Each frame has a hexagonal niche containing the ashes with the names of each Front Palace royal family member, such as King Pinklao. Wat Chana Songkhram is located on Chakraphong Road near Bang Lamphu, Khao San Road.
