Wat Arun Ratchawararam: A Landmark Temple by the Chao Phraya River

Wat Arun Ratchawararam, also known as Wat Chaeng, has been a significant temple of Bangkok since the Rattanakosin era. Its most striking feature is the magnificent white prang (spire), which looks stunning both during the day and at night, offering a unique experience depending on the time of your visit. Getting there is very convenient; simply take a ferry from Tha Tien Pier, which costs only 5 baht per trip and takes less than 2 minutes to cross the river. Upon arrival at Wat Arun, it is recommended to turn right and pay respects to the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall for blessings. Afterward, explore the iconic white prang of Wat Arun. A must-see highlight is the two small pavilions. In the first pavilion on the left, you’ll find a sacred relic of the Buddha. Paying respects here is believed to bring good fortune. Opposite the Buddha image in this pavilion is the royal bed of King Rama II (King Buddha Loetla Nabhalai). It is suggested to pass under the royal bed for blessings and good luck. Next, head to the pavilion on the right to pay homage to the relics of King Taksin the Great. Similarly, opposite the statue of King Taksin, you’ll find his royal bed. Passing under this bed is also believed to bring good fortune. It is said that those who are experiencing bad luck or misfortune will see their lives improve immediately after passing under both royal beds. If you have time, take a moment to relax and watch the cargo and tourist boats passing along the Chao Phraya River, which can bring a sense of peace and joy.
