Wat Bowonniwet Vihara

Wat Bowonniwet Vihara is a first-class royal temple located along Bowonniwet Road and Phra Sumen Road in Bowonniwet Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. It was established by Prince Maha Sakdipolsep, the Deputy King during the reign of King Rama III. The temple is a peaceful and serene place with large pillars and a single-story structure. The architecture is a blend of Thai and Chinese styles. Inside the ordination hall, there are two important ancient Buddha statues: Phra Suwannakhet (the large one at the back) and Phra Phuttha Chinnasi (the smaller one at the front). The temple also features a bell-shaped chedi from the Rattanakosin period, influenced by Ayutthaya-style chedis. The chedi has a high base with two circumambulatory terraces, each surrounded by a glass wall. At the corners of the first terrace, there are Chinese-style pavilions, and at the corners of the second terrace, there are chedis with a mandapa-style spire. This temple is highly recommended for those who enjoy visiting temples, praying, and seeking blessings. Morning chanting sessions are held around 8 AM.
