Phra Phiren Temple, Bangkok

#NewYearNewTrip New Year, we must accumulate a lot of merit. Today, Bommiko will take friends to worship and make merit. Wat Phra Phiren is an ancient temple. It is assumed that it was built in the Ayutthaya period. There is no information about the original name of the temple. Around 2379 B.E., during the reign of King Nangklao, during the reign of King Rama III, His Majesty ordered the construction and renovation of temples throughout the capital. Phra Phiren Thep (Kham Na Ratchasima), the Chief of the Right Police Department (not Phra Phiren Thep during the reign of King Rama V, who is the origin of the idiom) renovated this temple. It was granted the name Wat Kham Khemkaram, after the name of the renovator. Later, during the reign of King Rama IV, he became Phraya Nakhon Ratchasima. His Majesty changed the name to Wat Kham Korat, according to the new name and position granted by His Majesty. During the reign of King Rama V, the official name was changed to Wat Phra Phiren. It is located on Worachak Road, opposite Khlong Thom Center. Ubosot in the style of the royal preference during the reign of King Rama III Facing east to the road, the gable is made of stucco with a floral pattern, with a gable shaped like a garland and a swan's tail made of stucco in the shape of a naga. The pillars around the chapel are built into a pointed arch. The sema leaves are attached to the chapel wall. There is Luang Pho Yim, a meditation Buddha, as the principal Buddha image. In front and on the sides are 7 seated Buddha images, and at the back are 6 standing Buddha images. Next is the Luang Pho Dam temple, which is in the traditional style with a gable shaped like a garland and a swan's tail. It also faces east. Go inside and pay homage to Luang Pho Dam, an ancient Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, a pair of the temple. At the back is Luang Pho Phet, also in the Mara-Vijaya posture. On the right side of the chapel is a golden Sri Lankan-style pagoda. On the left, in the middle between the chapel and the chapel, there is a Chinese pavilion building where the temple's sacred objects are worshipped. #bomikotravel #worshipandaskforblessings
