2024 Bangkok Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)
Energetic, chaotic, and majestic, these are just a few words that come to mind when describing Bangkok. The heart and capital of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the most sprawling and metropolitan cities in Asia, and a popular gateway into the country. A city that has deeply rooted traditions and cosmopolitan attitudes, Bangkok has abundant cultural fascinations to captivate travelers from all over the world.Located close to the Gulf of Thailand, Bangkok is a city of waterways with the Chao Phraya River flowing through it. Back in the 19th century, as most of the city’s residents lived near or on the water, the city is known as the “Venice of the East.” While the history of Bangkok dates back about 600 years, it didn’t become the capital city until the 18th century. Through trade and commerce, the city expanded to its current scale. Today tourism is one of the major sources of revenue in Bangkok. With a tropical monsoon climate, the capital is hot and humid year-round. The most pleasant months to visit are from November to March when the heat and humidity are at their lowest. But this also means crowds are at their peak in late Fall and Winter, and this is particularly true around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. If you don’t mind the monsoon season, July and August are the off-peak seasons where many good deals are available on hotels and flights. There are so many first-rate scenic spots on offer in Bangkok, it is impossible to see them all if you only have a few days. For major tourist attractions in Bangkok, most are historical or religious sites. Make sure you admire the amazing architectural design of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, pay homage to the sacred Jade Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) or the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), or cruise past the temples and mansions on the Chao Phraya River (River of Kings). It is worth noting that, as many sites are sacred, there are strict rules which all visitors must follow. For instance, dress codes at the Grand Palace and various temples, men must wear long pants, shirts with sleeves, and no bare feet are permitted. Women must wear modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders.

Bangkok Central World | Sanrio Exhibition is so photogenic!
Girls, this Sanrio Exhibition in Bangkok, Thailand is so photogenic!
If you are traveling to Bangkok, Thailand, don't miss it‼️
🎨The exhibition is located on the 7th floor of Central World, and it is huge! In addition to Hello Kitty, there are other Sanrio characters, including Pudding Dog and Cool Penguin.
📍Bangkok Central World [Siam Shopping Center] 7th floor
(The 7th floor is a food court, the Sanrio exhibition is in a corner, if you can't find it, you can locate Snow King, it's nearby)
🎫Ticket price:
590/1100🐷
There are two different prices because the exhibition is divided into two parts,
590 is the 50th anniversary exhibition of Hello Kitty,
1100 can see other Sanrio characters,
I suggest you go directly to 1100🐷~~
📝
1⃣️There are a few areas inside where the lighting is not good for taking portraits. If possible, you can bring your own fill light, and you can also take beautiful silhouette photos.
2⃣️It is recommended to reserve at least 3 hours!!! I reserved 2 hours and it was not enough!!!
🆓🚶
There are many exhibition areas with different scenes and interactive installations to experience.
There are two large exhibition areas, one is a separate Hello Kitty, only Hello Kitty and Pudding Dog appear,
To see other characters in another area!
There are souvenirs for sale at the entrance, and the price is not expensive.
🛍️After watching the exhibition, you can also visit Central World,
✅Central World is a large shopping center in Asia, where you can find many international brands and local Thai brands. And many brands will have some discounts, the overall shopping experience is very good.
✅There is a real CS game on the third floor. If you go with friends, you can experience it. It is very exciting and interesting.
✅The famous Erawan Shrine is across the road from Central World, you can visit
🍴There are also many foods in Central World,
The 7th floor is a food court where you can find food from all over the world,
We ate at the famous local chain restaurant Nara, the environment is great, authentic Thai curry, Tom Yum Goong soup are famous, and there are various fresh seafood tastes super good😍
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World
#aquarium #100WaysOfTravel
The aquarium features stunning natural tanks filled with a diverse array of fish and marine life, making it a captivating environment for young explorers.
The interior design is beautifully arranged, enhancing the overall experience with vibrant colors and engaging displays. The glass boat ride was a highlight, allowing us to glide through underwater tunnels surrounded by majestic sea creatures—an unforgettable way to connect with the marine world.
The largest shopping mall in Southeast Asia is in Bangkok. You'll get lost if you don't have a guide.
📍Who would have thought that Bangkok, Thailand, is home to the second largest shopping center in Asia, CentralWorld, which is also the largest shopping mall in Thailand and even Southeast Asia! The first time I came here, I almost got lost.
🏨It is said that this is a building that integrates hotels, office buildings, shopping and entertainment malls. It took three years to expand the old mall - the original World Trade Center into what it is now.
🎦How big is it? There are 21 cinemas alone! There are more than 50 restaurants, and the rest of the shops are close to 500! Don't even mention shopping for a day here, it's not enough to stay for a few days~~
✨There are often star meetings here. For example, on the day we came in September, there was a fan meeting of the popular domestic star Luo Yunxi. Many Thai princesses came to watch, and the screams almost overturned the mall. Recently, there was also a dreamy Sanrio exhibition like a fairy tale world, attracting many Sanrio fans to check in.
🍴There are also many well-known restaurants here. Our lunch is set at Nara Thai Cuisine, which has been rated as one of the best restaurants in Thailand for several years. The restaurant is full of retro Siam style. The signature dishes include Tom Yum Goong, Thai coconut chicken soup, special coconut ice cream, fried water spinach, etc. The curry soft-shell crab is particularly experienced, crispy and sweet, and it's so delicious.
🔫There is also a super fun play square in the mall, which is equivalent to a real-life CS. When the team comes to play together, there is a sense of "game into reality", super exciting and tense~
📍The geographical location of the mall is very good, it is on the Bangkok MRT line, and the famous Thai attraction Erawan Shrine is nearby. Next to it is the bustling Bangkok street with heavy traffic. You can come and watch when you have time.

The Grand Palace Bangkok, a history and cultural tour!
#traveldiaries#bangkok#culture
📝 04/09/2024 Wednesday, 9am. The Grand Palace, Bangkok.
Absolutely fantastic!!! This is a must visit place for anyone in Bangkok, and one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. I got a local friend to
take me around and share me some Thai history
and culture informations, I felt a deep connection
to Thailand’s royal heritage, and I really enjoyed a lot.
The Grand Palace is really massive and intricate details of the buildings are simply breathtaking. I was so impressed by the Emerald Buddha Temple with its stunning golden spires and intricate mosaics. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and I found myself mesmerized by the beauty of every corner.
⏩Dress Code: Be sure to dress appropriately. It's recommended for visitors to wear long skirts or pants and long-sleeved shirts to cover their arms and legs.

Don Mueang Airport Lounge: Diverse Food and Unlimited Drinks
It was my first time visiting the VIP lounge at Don Mueang Airport, and I was really impressed by the delicious food here. The best part is that the drinks are unlimited! The staff are also very kind and friendly. Since I was taking a late-night flight today, it was really convenient to rest here and then head to the boarding gate when it was time. It made the whole experience super relaxing. The overall experience was fantastic, especially since I could go back and rest well as soon as the plane landed in the morning, without feeling tired at all. I highly recommend everyone to visit the VIP lounge at Don Mueang Airport next time you come here. It will make your journey more comfortable and relaxing!
Wat Mahathat: A Free Temple in Bangkok
Wat Mahathat is one of the most historically significant Buddhist temples in Bangkok, beloved by tourists for its spectacular architecture and rich cultural heritage.🫶🏻
🌟Free Admission
The temple offers free entry, allowing visitors to explore at their leisure. The temple paths have a garden-like atmosphere, making it an impressive and ideal place for a stroll.🙌🏻
🌟Temple Style
While the architecture here may not be particularly grand or luxurious, this very simplicity sets it apart from other famous attractions like the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, showcasing a more authentic side of Thailand.👍 Personally, I highly recommend this place!🌟🌟🌟
If your day trip schedule is tight, you might not make a special trip here, but you definitely won't regret visiting.🙌🏻

The stunning white-themed hotel in Bangkok, 'INNSiDE by Melia'
I initially wanted to write a warning about this hotel‼️, but after calming down, I realized it has quite a few advantages...
INNSiDE is a sub-brand of the Spanish hotel chain Melia, focusing on urban resort leisure style. The INNSiDE in Bangkok (Yiside) just opened in July 2023, making it the newest one. Of course, I had to stay at this trendy new hotel (though it's a bit overrated💔).
🌟 INNSiDE is located in the Sukhumvit area, right across the street from the On Nut BTS station, which is super convenient in this traffic-heavy city! The lobby and public areas feature a modern and elegant design with a pure white tone and rose gold furniture, making it really beautiful and high-end🥰.
🌟 There are two rooftop bars, and the famous infinity pool is on the 34th floor. There's a moon-shaped swing chair and a hammock where you can lie down, perfectly positioned to watch the sunrise and sunset. Waking up to such a beautiful view is truly blissful💕. The panoramic infinity pool and 24-hour gym have a unique design with a transparent glass bottom, making it a must-visit for pool enthusiasts!
✔️ The rooms feature large floor-to-ceiling windows for bright natural lighting, and they all offer a free minibar. The bedding is very comfortable and great for a good night's sleep!
💔 Now, let's talk about what made me furious. The room is quite small at 20 square meters, making me feel like I was in Japan. By Southeast Asian hotel standards, it's subpar. The shower area is very small, and the floor gets wet immediately after showering. There's no place to put your change of clothes, which made me so angry that I called the front desk to complain. The designer must have never used this room to come up with such a terrible space😡.
💯 The On Nut BTS station exit 2 is right next to Tesco Lotus, and nearby are community malls like Big C Extra and The Phyll Sukhumvit 54. The On Nut station area is also filled with affordable massage places, food, and street vendors, with prices much lower than in tourist areas. If you don't mind the room size, you might want to give it a try.

Bankok street food is delicious 🌭
#eatlikealocal
Bangkok street food is honestly a paradise for foodies like me! The moment I stepped into the bustling streets of Sukhumvit and Khao San Road, the vibrant aromas of grilled meats, spices, and sizzling woks hit me. Every corner offers something different, from pad thai to mango sticky rice, and the best part? Most dishes cost between 30-60 THB ($1-2), so it’s super affordable to try a bit of everything.
One of my favorites was the spicy papaya salad (som tam)—refreshing, spicy, and full of flavor. The grilled satay skewers were also incredible! As I wandered, I discovered hidden gems in Chinatown, which is an absolute must for seafood lovers. After indulging in all the food, I took a quick tuk-tuk ride to the Grand Palace, one of the most iconic attractions nearby. Bangkok’s street food is an adventure in itself, and you really can’t go wrong with anything you try! 🥢🍜🌶️
