Dhammek Stupa-style Pagoda at Kanmatuyaram Temple

🏡Kanmatuyaram Temple is a small temple under the Dhammayutika Nikaya sect, built in 1864 at the end of King Rama IV's reign. 🌻It was established by Mrs. Kleeb Sakornwasi, the daughter of Grandma Faeng (the owner of a brothel in the Sampheng area and the founder of Kanikaphon Temple), who dedicated her flower garden to build the temple. 🙏Later, Mrs. Kleeb's son, Phra Darunraksa (Kan Sakornwasi), became a royal page in the reign of King Rama IV. 🙏After the temple was completed, it was presented to the King, who named it Kanmatuyaram Temple, meaning the temple built by Mr. Kan's mother. 🏕The temple area is quite narrow, with a significant religious site featuring an inverted bell-shaped pagoda in the Lankan style, modeled after the Dhammek Stupa in India. 🛕There are only two such pagodas in Thailand (the other is at Wat Sommanat Ratchaworawihan). 🙏Inside the ordination hall, there are mural paintings depicting the life of Buddha. 🏕This temple was once the residence of Suchivo Bhikkhu or Ajahn Sucheep Punnanuparp, a renowned Buddhist scholar in Thailand. 💥Kanmatuyaram Temple: Mangkon Road, Samphanthawong Subdistrict, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok. 🌐Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8WJPxYMSchcMGwU2A 🕔Opening hours: 05:00 – 18:00.
