The Temple Where Five Kings Were Ordained

🙏 Wat Bowonniwet Vihara is a first-class royal temple with a blend of Thai and Chinese architecture. It was built during the reign of King Rama III between 1824-1832. 🙏 It was the residence of kings during their ordination from the reign of King Rama IV to King Rama VII and King Rama IX. The highlights within the temple include: 🏰 The Ubosot (ordination hall), built in the royal style of King Rama III, features a protruding front porch, side wings, square columns, and a surrounding portico with stucco decorations on the gables. 🙏 Inside, the principal Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Suthon (Luang Pho To), which was brought from Wat Sra Tapan in Phetchaburi Province, and Phra Phuttha Chinnasi, brought from the northern vihara of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat in Phitsanulok Province, are enshrined. 🙏 The principal Buddha image in the Ubosot of Wat Bowonniwet Vihara houses the royal ashes of King Rama VI and King Rama IX. 🛕 The Golden Chedi, a large stupa enshrining the Buddha's relics, has four entrance arches leading to the inner chamber.
