Steamed crab with glass noodles, the number one dish on the Thonburi side

#dreamdestination Som Sak Poo Ob - This old shop for over 30 years has a reputation for being the number one in the crab and shrimp with glass noodles industry. It has won every award from Shell Chuan Chim, Pib Pisat, Wongnai Users’ Choices, and Michelin BIB Gourmand (Charoen Rat branch). The original first branch was just a food cart on the side of Charoen Rat Alley, with tables and chairs set up on the sidewalk like a true street food. Currently, the shop has expanded to 3 more branches: Krung Thon Buri Road, Lat Ya Road, and Petchkasem Road. ✅ For this time, we chose the Lat Ya branch, which is close to the first branch, but has the advantage of being an air-conditioned shophouse, making it much more comfortable to sit in. ✅ There are only 4 items on the menu: crab with glass noodles (with both meat and egg crabs to choose from) / shrimp with glass noodles / baked mussels / boiled cockles. We ordered these 2 items. 🦀 Crab with glass noodles We chose the meat crab. The price is based on the weight. The restaurant uses fresh sea crabs from Mahachai, with the shells smashed for easy peeling. Served in a steaming hot pot, the crab meat is excellent, both firm and sweet. The highlight is the glass noodles that the restaurant specially orders, focusing on green beans rather than flour, so they are chewy, soft, and do not stick together in lumps and are not bloated. When it arrives at the table, quickly mix the glass noodles with the seasonings at the bottom of the pot while they are still hot. Eat with spring onions and dip in the restaurant's special seafood sauce, it is incredibly delicious. 🦐 Baked shrimp with glass noodles Using 3 large sea shrimps, the shrimp meat is firm and bouncy, filling your mouth. The seasonings are the same as the first menu. The food here is made to be eaten alone without rice. The baked glass noodles menu is not too oily or greasy like other restaurants (even though pork fat is added at the bottom of the pot), which we really like. ✅ For those who like glass noodles, this restaurant has an option to order extra glass noodles (but we ordered the normal one without adding glass noodles and were already full).
