Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit Ratchaworamahawihan Many people like to call it “Wat Mahathat Tha Phra Chan”. It is considered another important temple in the capital city of Bangkok. It was originally called “Wat Salak” and is believed to have been around since the Ayutthaya period. 🙏 “Phra Mondop” is an architecture that the Prince of the Palace of the Front built to be an important and main temple of the temple. He used the wood that would be used to build the castle in the Front Palace to build this Phra Mondop, but it was later burned down. He therefore ordered a new Phra Mondop to be built with a roof in the style of a hall as it is today. 🙏 “Phra Chedi Sri Rattana Mahathat” is enshrined in the Phra Mondop. Inside the Phra Mondop, there are the relics of the Lord Buddha and the ashes of his father and Prince Maha Sura Singhanat. 🙏 “Phra Ubosot” in the past was known as the largest Ubosot in Rattanakosin. It is a Thai-style building with a high base. The pediment is carved wood covered in gold and decorated with glass. The sema stone is carved with the image of Narayana riding a suppan. Inside the Ubosot The outside part of the four corners are carved with the image of Garuda fighting the Naga. 🙏 “Phra Si Sanphet” is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, which the Prince of the Palace of the Front ordered Phraya Thep Rangsan to sculpt. Even though it was struck by lightning, it was restored and regilded in the reign of King Rama III. 🕯️ “Phra Saeng Rao Thian” is an object of worship in Buddhism. It is usually a flat metal beam stretched across, with a pair of pillars supporting the top and bottom of the beam. On the back of the beam is a lotus or cup for placing candles. But the highlight of Phra Saeng Rao Thian is that it is a candle rail made from “Phra Saeng Dab”, which has been lost for decades.
