Permata Kuta Hotel i

Permata Kuta Hotel is popular both with vacationers and those in town on business. The ambience is low key and relaxed, but the busy urban location is quite noisy. There are plenty of common areas to relax in and stylings throughout are contemporary, but slightly mismatched, as if the hotel has undergone several rounds of partial decor renovations. The on-site facilities are fairly complete. The pool is somewhat shaded by the hotel buildings, but features a nice setting that includes some tropical greenery and tall palm trees. There are only a few lounge chairs laid out around the pool, but the area rarely gets crowded, as most of the guests who stay here tend to spend their days out exploring downtown Kuta or relaxing on the nearby beaches. The property doesn't feature any open grounds or gardens and there is little greenery, except for the small patches that line the swimming pool. #createwithtrip #staycation

Family-owned and operated, Febri's Hotel & Spa also prides itself on being one of the most family-friendly hotels in Bali (it's very popular with Australian tourists for that reason). This hotel also often hosts return visitors (many guests come back year after year for vacation). The lobby of the hotel is open-air with high teakwood ceilings, a few chairs, and a small bar/vending area. The grounds are lovely and tropical with stone pathways, green trees, and the occasional statue. The spa is a draw for guests of the hotel as well as outside tourists. Because it is well run, professional, and offers a variety of services, it definitely becomes a big part of the culture at this hotel with many guests enjoying multiple treatments during their stays. Though Kuta is very busy, there is a tranquility within the confines of the resort that is surprising. The overall vibe is warm. People seem to be happy and enjoying their stays, and the staff members are kind and aim to please. #createwithtrip #staycation

This hotel is resort-sized with a lot of amenities making it popular for all types of vacationers, from couples to families with small children. A large fountain at the entrance and huge covered archways give the property a grand feeling right from the get-go. The lobby is massive and sets the scene well with its open-air configuration, high ceilings, marbles floors/pillars, ornamental figurines, and multiple reception/check-in areas. Souvenir shops and concierge services are also available. In general, the resort is quiet, especially considering that it's located in a busy area. The grounds are green and tropical with stone pathways leading to the various buildings. Large amounts of open space allows for nice airflow and breezes throughout the complex. On occasion, however, when the wind is particularly strong and the waves are high, small amounts of ocean water can roll all the way through the seaside restaurant. #createwithtrip #staycation

Colorful plants and tall statues adorn the entrance to the Bali Dynasty Resort and welcome drinks are offered at check-in as guests step inside. The peaked wooden Balinese ceiling overhead contrasts the contemporary woven chairs and love seats throughout the modern lobby with its red-and-black granite floor. Grounds include beautiful palm trees, plants, a duck pond, and a large koi pond as well as a lush garden run through by a wooden walkway. Hallways throughout have an atrium-like quality, with stone gardens at the ground floor level, and wooden banisters lining the floors overhead. The Hospitality Lounge, for early arrivals and late departures, is a smart addition here and has locker rooms, flat-screen TVs, and free coffee, tea, and newspapers. The hotel offers plenty of restaurants and bars, ranging from the Irish pub style of popular Gracie Kelly's to the laid-back poolside Sunset Bar. This is a family-friendly resort through and through, and there are kids' clubs and activities as well as a small water park on site, though couples stay here as well. #createwithtrip #staycation

Although Amnaya Resort is located just a short walk from the buzz of downtown Kuta, inside the property the ambience stays consistently serene. The hotel's common areas feature comfy seating and stylish interiors with quality paintings and art installations on display throughout. The design elements are a collaboration of some of Bali's most well known artists, architects, and landscapes designers -- including the late Made Wijaya (an iconic Balinese/Australian landscape designer), Pintor Sirait (one of Indonesias most highly acclaimed metal sculptors), Martin Grounds (architect of the Four Seasons Jimbaran and St. Regis Bali), and Jason Childs (a popular ocean and surf photographer). Sukun Restaurant has gorgeously appointed interiors that feature a combination of traditional Balinese stylings and chic modern design elements. The restaurant is housed in a palatial semi open-air space with views of the pool and koi ponds. The interior features include raw concrete pillars, handmade copper lighting fixtures, delicate wire art installations, and painted ceiling cloud murals. The outdoor swimming pool is centered in the property and tends to be a hub of activity throughout the day. There are plenty of lounge chairs laid out around the pool for guests, and the intimate setting is lined with tropical greenery. Most of the guests are vacationing couples. #createwithtrip #staycation

The Kana Kuta Hotel - The bamboo-lined driveway is the only tropical touch on the exterior here, which otherwise looks as if the hotel could be anywhere. Upon entering the sleek lobby, that impression changes. Guests are greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks. Modern in style with marble floors, large artistic floral arrangements, a decorative fountain and pond, and contemporary furnishings in gray and neutral shades, The Kana Kuta gives off a city vibe, but the sweet tropical air wafts through its open configuration, and natural light, especially beautiful in the morning, streams through the lobby. This hotel has ample communal space, which is great for guests who like to get out of their rooms; there are plenty of sofas and lounge and patio seating areas around. Family-friendly, the hotel offers plenty of free, supervised activities for the younger set. #createwithtrip #staycation

Kuta Seaview Boutique Resort & Spa - Set amid the hustle and bustle of central Kuta, this hotel offers a quiet escape despite its busy location. The entrance, just off the beachfront road that runs in front of the hotel, is nondescript, but once beyond the gate, the ambience takes a turn for the delightful. While the lobby, with its large white columns wrapped in red silk ties, chandelier, marble floors, and regal purple pillows on wooden couches and chairs, goes for grandeur, the open-air access reminds guests they're on an island. The hallways resemble little secret stone pathways carved through the abundant tropical foliage. The property's gardens are lush and beautifully kept with an exquisite koi pond and other little statues and treasures sprinkled throughout. The resort, with its attentive customer service, pays attention to details -- guests can borrow umbrellas from the front desk, for example -- and many guests are return visitors. #createwithtrip #staycation

The Modern 100 Sunset Boutique Hotel has an open-concept lobby with potted plants, light wood floors, and a wood wall feature. A red floral couch provides extra seating and there is free coffee, tea, and newspapers. Orange Bar and Lounge, the on-site restaurant, provides another cozy place to relax and has similar styling to the lobby with a wood feature wall and light tile floors in addition to neutral striped wallpaper and wicker chairs with orange or blue cushions. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in a lot of natural light. The exterior is bright orange with a contemporary design and is surrounded by palm trees. The minimal, pleasant style gives this property an unfussy, serene atmosphere. #createwithtrip #staycation

This hotel sits on the same property as the Kuta Beach Hotel of the 1930s, which was one of the first hotels in the area. That being said, there's not much about this hotel that feels vintage, and instead the atmosphere throughout is fresh and contemporary. A nautical theme inspired by the mythical Riva Boat is used in the hotel, with many details related to surfing, yachting, fishing, and seafaring. The blend of local touches, French style, and a few tasteful throwback details helps to create what is one of Kuta's more upmarket options, and one of the few luxurious properties that we've found in town. Dark wood tones, creamy tiled floors, and pops of bright colors like blue and coral help make everything look fresh, and the welcome drink and cool towel are a nice touch. The hotel has a lively vibe, and guests can be found drinking and kicking back in the multiple restaurants and bars, and around the sleek rooftop pool, until fairly late. Couples and groups of friends are far and away the most frequent guests here, though families do pass through as well despite a lack of kid-friendly features and the hotel's more party-centric atmosphere. #createwithtrip #staycation

Indonesian statues lead to the Bali Agung Village, a traditional, tranquil Balinese hotel with thatched roofs and wood carvings set under tall palm trees. Earth tones, high ceilings, and live plants define the homey, authentic Balinese common areas, from the lobby to the restaurant -- many of which are open air. A large garden with statues, trees, and flowers adds to the old-fashioned feel. It could be called an oasis, and has a lot of character in an area of Bali quickly being converted into sleek, modern properties. Most guests are vacationing families and couples. The Bali Agung Village is in the center of Seminyak, in an alley off of a traffic-laden street, surrounded by nightlife and restaurants. Seminyak is less wild than Kuta, but isn't a tranquil tropical getaway by any stretch of the imagination. #createwithtrip #staycation

Built in 1991 and last renovated in 2013, Grand Balisani Suites is a quiet, upper-middle-range beachfront resort dominated by traditional Balinese styling. This 1.8-hectare (4.4 acres) property incorporates lots of dark wood and thatch, as well as simple earth-tone fabrics and large paintings. Grounds are particularly pleasant, thanks to meandering pathways interspersed with koi ponds and a pool. However, there are also plenty of stairs, and the lack of elevators might put some travelers off. While the property gets some families, most travelers are couples looking for a property within easy reach of the bustling tourist center. Grand Balisani Suites offers a good range of vacation-friendly amenities. The pool sits between the resort building and the beach and features an elevated kids' section, and a covered bar off to one side. There are a few lounge chairs on the wooden deck surrounding the pool, with more situated on a grassy lawn overlooking the beach. The beach itself is separated from the property by a narrow road and there are a few lounge chairs here owned by a third party that guests can rent. However, the waves here are powerful, making it downright dangerous for swimming and only experienced surfers should attempt to surf here. #createwithtrip #staycation

As one of the older hotels in Kuta, the homey Adi Dharma Hotel celebrates its heritage with authentic Balinese architecture, including old-fashioned carvings and red tile roofs. A traditional Balinese style flows through the cozy, open-air lobby, which has a gray stone front desk set against antique wood furniture. Gold trim around the ceiling and pillars of the restaurant adds to the vintage feel, as does the thatched roof, and there is a huge garden with gorgeous native plants and rock fountains flowing into koi ponds. It's a tranquil spot in the middle of wild Kuta, and includes features like a meditation hall and spa. Vacationing families and older couples frequent this hotel. #createwithtrip #staycation

White Rose Kuta Resort - The White Rose’s grounds feel like something of a secret garden, with well-tended lawns and a water fountain accented with animal statues that shoot water from their mouths. The hotel's presentable, low-rise cream-and-brown exterior has a local feel, and the entrance has a pagoda-like design. The bright, spacious lobby has high ceilings, local flower arrangements, and an interior balcony with an attractive black railing, dark-wood-panel edging, and an elaborate staircase -- but overall the space still feels somewhat impersonal and generic. The attractive curved pool, surrounded by rooms and tree-lined lawns, complements a smaller, shallow pool and an elevated whirlpool (with fountain), but the tiling is old and discolored in places. Wood-framed padded sunbeds sit under large and attractive modern parasols. The partly open-air spa feels stylish and intimate, and treatment rooms are especially stunning. Open-air Lotus restaurant and Bunut Cafe are generally bright and attractive, while Tulip Lounge has a garishly clashing color scheme and dated marble-like flooring. Most guests here are couples and families on vacation. #createwithtrip #staycation
