Nusa Penida: Epic Views & Tough Treks

We spent a day exploring Nusa Penida, and while the views were absolutely breathtaking, the trekking was no joke! Here’s a recap of our trip and some tips for anyone planning to visit. Kelingking Beach: Stunning but Brutal The iconic T-Rex Cliff at Kelingking Beach is even more beautiful in person. The hike down to the beach, though? Extremely challenging. It’s steep, rocky, and requires a lot of caution. Going down took effort, but coming back up was exhausting—prepare to sweat! Still, the reward was a nearly empty, pristine beach with insane waves. Other Must-See Spots ✔️ Angel’s Billabong & Broken Beach – A natural infinity pool and a dramatic rock arch. Great for photos, but not swimmable when the tide is high. ✔️ Crystal Bay – Perfect for relaxing after all the trekking. Calm waters and good snorkeling. ✔️ Diamond Beach & Atuh Beach – More incredible cliffs and turquoise waters. The stairs down to Diamond Beach are carved into the rock, making for an epic descent. Tips for Nusa Penida: ✔️ Wear proper shoes – Flip-flops won’t survive the Kelingking trek. ✔️ Start early – The island is big, and the roads are rough, so give yourself enough time. ✔️ Hire a driver or rent a scooter – The roads are bumpy, and distances between spots are long. ✔️ Bring lots of water – The heat and trekking will drain you fast.
