Ulun Danu Batur Temple

Ulun Danu Batur Temple is a Balinese Hindu temple located on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Pura Ulun Danu Batur is one of the Pura Kahyangan Jagat temples and is one of the most important temples in Bali, serving as a guardian of the unity and stability of the entire island. Pura Ulun Danu Batur represents the northern direction and is dedicated to the god Vishnu and the goddess Dewi Danu. Situated at the mouth of a volcanic crater, it offers a full view of Lake Batur and Mount Batur. The temple is located by the roadside in a community area. This place was built by the Mengwi dynasty king around 1624 AD, during the 17th century, for conducting Buddhist and Hindu religious ceremonies. It was dedicated to 'Dewi Danu,' the goddess of the waters of Lake Bratan.
