Enjoy the blue volcanic waterfalls

The Hidden Treasure waterfalls (cataratas Tesoro Escondido) are located in Bajos del Toro Amarillo, next to Water National Park, Alajuela province. This area is located within the border of Poas Volcano National Park, one of the most famous volcanos in Costa Rica. This volcanic river originates within the Poas volcano, therefore its blue color is natural. To fully appreciate its beauty, you need to visit during summer time (sediment release in rainy season alters water color). Water is very cold, but absolutely breathtaking, perfect after the short hike around the mountain to reach the waterfalls.
