The Richest guy in Viet Nam in the prior century.

Nhà Công Tử Bạc Liêu, located in Bac Lieu City in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, is one of the region’s most famous historical landmarks. Built in the early 20th century, the mansion is closely associated with the legendary figure Tran Trinh Huy, popularly known as the “Bac Lieu Dandy” or “Công Tử Bạc Liêu” (the Playboy of Bac Lieu). Known for his wealth, extravagant lifestyle, and charm, Tran Trinh Huy became a symbol of opulence and high society in southern Vietnam during the French colonial period. The mansion, designed with a blend of French and Vietnamese architecture, was built in 1919 by French architects and imported materials from France. Its elegant design reflects European architectural influences, featuring high ceilings, intricate chandeliers, classic pillars, and beautifully tiled floors. The house was once considered the most luxurious building in Bac Lieu, showcasing the wealth and prestige of its owner. Today, visitors can explore the mansion’s richly decorated rooms, which are filled with period furniture, family portraits, and historical artifacts that offer a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the Bac Lieu Dandy. Tran Trinh Huy was known for his flamboyant lifestyle, spending lavishly on luxury items, parties, and gambling. Stories of his generosity and extravagance abound, including tales of how he once burned money to make tea for his guests, or how he would fly to Saigon just to play with his friends. His wealth, however, dwindled over time, and he eventually faced financial ruin. Today, Nhà Công Tử Bạc Liêu serves as a museum, offering visitors a look into the social history of the Mekong Delta and life during the colonial period. The mansion has become a popular tourist attraction, where visitors can learn about the history and culture of the region and the fascinating life of Tran Trinh Huy. It serves as a reminder of a bygone era, reflecting both the grandeur and impermanence of wealth. The house not only captures the architectural beauty of the early 20th century but also preserves the stories of a legendary figure whose life continues to intrigue and inspire local folklore.#historicallandmarks #100waysoftravel
