Obidos: The Wedding City

Entering through the main gate of Obidos, you will find Direita Street, the most bustling area and shopping street in Obidos. This street runs north to south through the town, with souvenir shops and restaurants lining the cobblestone road. The whitewashed walls of the houses are adorned with sky blue and lemon yellow lines, adding a bright and lively atmosphere. The windowsills are filled with blooming flowers, and vines climb the walls, creating the most natural artworks. Even in this busy shopping street, a unique romantic charm pervades. At the end of Direita Street, there is a bookstore housed in the converted Igreja de São Tiago (Church of Saint James). The interior still retains the original church layout, allowing knowledge and divinity to coexist, making it a place well worth visiting. If you are interested in religious art, you can also visit the Municipal Museum (Museu Municipal), which is housed in an 18th-century mayor's residence.
