Rhododendron Lake is one of the famous lakes in the Arxan Scenic Area. Besides it, there are also lakes such as Songye Lake, Luming Lake, and Wusulangzi Lake. Rhododendron Lake in Arxan has two unique features: one is the rhododendron flowers in spring, and the other is the stunning sunset in autumn. The altitude of Rhododendron Lake is not high, only 1244 meters. It is a dammed lake where you can walk along the waterside boardwalk to the lake shore. Thousands of years ago, a volcanic eruption blocked the river, forming an 'L'-shaped lake with an average depth of 2.5 meters and an area of about 128 hectares, connecting Songye Lake upstream and the Halaha River downstream. Because the lake water is flowing, the water quality is excellent, the lake surface is azure, and the water is almost transparent. The sunset at Rhododendron Lake is a major spectacle in Arxan.
