A Slow Life in Anji with Rain, Tea, and a Dog

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, we escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. My partner, our dog, and I embarked on a serene three-day, two-night journey to Anji. We stayed in a tent nestled in the mountains. As the gentle sound of rain fell in the afternoon, we brewed tea outside the tent, quietly listening to the rain. Our dog lay beside us, peacefully asleep. Everything slowed down. This little haven felt like a corner forgotten by time. On a hot summer afternoon, the sound of rain replaced the noise of car horns, and the aroma of tea overshadowed the restlessness, teaching us how to breathe anew. The hotel we stayed at was a delightful surprise. The hostess was warm and welcoming, attending to every detail perfectly, making us feel at home. Their two Ragdoll cats were irresistibly adorable, walking up to us for pets with their fluffy fur. They were so friendly that even our dog couldn’t resist trying to make friends. We also visited the newly opened "Nine Mu Tomb." Its clean and minimalist design exuded a Japanese aesthetic of tranquility, prompting us to tread lightly. Nearby, we explored the archaeological museum and library, engaging in a dialogue with history through books and artifacts. At the museum’s café, we sipped on hand-brewed coffee, letting time flow gently by. Another highlight was the horseback riding experience provided by the hotel. Galloping through lush green fields, we felt the freedom of the wind and the warmth of the earth, as if living out a childhood dream. Anji may be small, but every step here leaves a deep impression. It’s a perfect place for a brief escape and even better for rediscovering oneself. I highly recommend it to anyone weary of city life.
