Zhibek Zholy Metro Station

Zhibek Zholy Metro Station, part of Almaty’s Line 1, opened on December 1, 2011. Located beneath the intersection of Panfilov and Gogol streets, this deep-level station reaches a depth of 30 meters. Its design features a central hall flanked by two side halls, forming a spacious island platform measuring 19.8 meters in width and 104 meters in length.   The station’s name, “Zhibek Zholy,” translates to “Silk Road,” reflecting the area’s historical significance as part of the ancient trade route. Its architectural design pays homage to this heritage, featuring decorative elements that evoke the rich cultural tapestry of the Silk Road era.
