The Old World Style of Alcudia in the heart of Mallorca

It’s now time to discover the historic and charming second town of Mallorca - Alcudia. Alcudia has a beautiful old town that dates back to the Middle Ages. I explored the cute and quaint little alleys that are dotted all around the old town. Look out for the historic Old Town walls and gates that fortify this beautiful place. The Roman city of Pollentia is located just outside the walls of Alcudia Old Town. There are three main archaeological sites within this excavation -making this the most important Roman archaeological site on the island of Mallorca. Pollentia was, by Roman standards, a very modern city with its own drinking water reserves and sewerage system. This area shows the ruins of the homes that housed the wealthy. The forum would have been the beating heart of Pollentia, the town centre where the townsfolk will have congregated. It’s here that you can still see the remains of the Capitolino Temple, a temple dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. It was incredible to walk the same steps and imagine what life would have been like in this bustling area more than two millennia ago.
