He produced over 20,000 poems, surpassing even the works of Edo Era poet Issa Kobayashi. His collection, "Seventeen Syllables of World Literature," is celebrated alongside the works of renowned poets such as Toho, Rihaku, Saigyo, and Basho. When writer Seichi Morimura visited Asahikawa in 2010, he hailed Nishikawa's oeuvre as a Japanese literature legacy, leading to the renaming of Seven-Jo Green Street to "The Green Street of Youth."
