Gornergrat is a popular route in Zermatt, with a mountain train running every 20 minutes, indicating a large number of tourists. The internet is flooded with photos taken from the same spots and angles. Besides visiting the observation deck, I find it enjoyable to have a coffee outdoors. Below the Gornergrat observation deck, there's an artificial reservoir that's a popular photo spot. The next stop, Rotenboden, has two naturally formed meltwater pools, known for the reflection of the Matterhorn. To capture a beautiful reflection, you need to go early when the weather is good and there's no wind. Once the wind picks up or clouds roll in during the afternoon, the reflection becomes impossible to capture. However, I am fascinated by the mid-slope of Riffelhorn, right next to the glacier cliff, offering a breathtaking view of the glacier. Or at the foot of the Matterhorn, where the glacier trail begins, there's a meltwater lake reflecting the black Matterhorn. I really don't want to queue up with the crowd and follow the trend of taking Instagram-worthy photos, especially since it's not suitable for a man in his sixties.

Price - We stayed for 1 night by booking directly with the hotel. We got it for 20k+ per night. During the time we went, the hotel was under construction next door, so they sent us an email saying that you would receive a discount. Because there was a crane blocking the Matterhorn, we didn't get to see the view 100%. Reduced to about 16k per night, it's okay. 🫶🏻 All the staff in the hotel are lovely. The person who helped us carry our bags was ours and my boyfriend's 2 bags, each weighing more than 20 kg. He was determined to carry it by himself. We wanted to help, but he said it was okay, but it was heavy. I was embarrassed. 🥹🥹🥹 When we arrived at the lobby, we were given a choice of welcome drinks. We chose champagne, lol. We were going to use it as a prop for taking pictures. After that, someone took us around the hotel and showed us our room. The room was cute, not too small or too big. In order to make it easier to go down the mountain from 3100 kulmhotel, I only brought a simple backpack when I checked in, and my large luggage was stored at the hotel at the foot of the mountain. Fortunately, the weather was clear that day, so we were able to see the magnificence of the Alps. Finally, you can visit the Ice Palace, which has ice sculptures of different shapes. The temperature on the mountain was only minus 11 degrees Celsius that day. Remember to check the weather and temperature on the mountain before going up the mountain, and wear enough clothes. It’s a pity that I was not able to become one of them this time. I hope I can learn skiing well next time and climb the Matterhorn!

Breuil-Cervinia is an Alpine resort in the Valle d’Aosta region of northwest Italy. It’s known for its snow-capped mountains, including the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn. A network of slopes connects Breuil-Cervinia to Swiss resorts like Zermatt, and to the Plateau Rosà and Ventina glaciers. The A Mountain of Work Museum displays photos and equipment related to the construction of the cable-car system. A Breuil Cervinia hotel typically costs much less than a Zermatt hotel which can be expensive, although Cervinia can cost more than some other nearby Italian ski resorts. Other Cervinia accommodation includes self-catering apartments & chalets of varying standards. The Matterhorn Ski Paradise is one of the largest ski resorts in the world and is the highest ski resort in the Alps at almost 4000 meters elevation. The winter sports area features a fantastic view of the Matterhorn and stretches across two countries. Zermatt is the entry point in Switzerland and Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche are the entry points in Italy. Zermatt lies at an elevation of 1,620 meters above sea level and is surrounded by a total of 38 peaks that are higher than 4000 meters. The highest and largest summer ski resort in the Alps is the Matterhorn glacier paradise located on the Theodul Glacier.

The Glacier Express rides on one of the worlds best rails. One portion of the journey is even UNESCO recognised! Although not cheap at around €300+ per pax, finding an alternative to this is almost impossible. The train goes through and along mountains and provides spectacular views that could leave you in awe for almost all 8 hours of the journey. You can purchase meals onboard the train however they are a little pricey. They however will not stop you from bringing your own meals on board if you’d like (which is what we did)! The seats were quite comfy, although it’s not the kind you could easily sleep in. There’re plugs and trash bins at every table for your convenience. The windows go all the way up for your panoramic indulgence. And best of all, there is wifi. If you’d like to go the whole stretch, take the train from St. Moritz all the way to Zermatt. #skiadventure Rotenboden, at an altitude of 2,815 metres, is the fourth station along the Gornergrat Railway. It gave a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. We were there during spring, and the place was still filled with snow. The weather was great. And, we managed to watch some ski moments. Hope to be back in Zermatt in the near future during the winter season to get our share of ski adventures. #mytripvlog
