✈ Self-driving tour around Croatia during the National Day, 11 days of itinerary, basically covered all the classic scenes. Sharing some dry goods (detailed content, divided into several issues). 👑Zagreb (Pictures 5-7) This time we took a circular route, landed in Zagreb by LOT Polish Airlines, and spent half a day visiting Stone Gate, market, two churches (not open for renovation) the next day. 🔺The most recommended attraction is Lotrščak Tower, where you can overlook the whole Zagreb. On one side of the tower is the shortest cable car in the world. 🔺Go to St. Mark's Church early in the morning, it's hard to take pictures when there are too many people later. It is recommended to book accommodation near Jelačić Square, where you can walk to all attractions. I booked Apartman Rudi, over 400 per night. 🔺It's cheap to take Uber in Zagreb. 👑Dubrovnik (Pictures 1-4, 12-14) Flew to Dubrovnik in the afternoon of the second day, also considered self-driving, not to mention tired, because we planned to stay in Dubrovnik for 3 nights, and the attractions in the city can be reached on foot. Save 3 days of car rental fee, the domestic ticket is only over 300. 🔺The most photogenic place here is the old town. If you love photography, it is recommended to book a hotel on the hill opposite the old town. I booked Apartments Villa Kosovic - ground floor, the view is excellent, you can overlook the sunrise and sunset of the old town from the balcony. The price is 400 per night, which is very cheap. 🔺As for taking pictures, the main street of the old town is crowded with tourists, but the small alleys on both sides are less crowded and good for shooting. The staff were very kind and the place is new and clean. It was a kitchen and fridge. Tea and coffee available for free. The area is quiet so you can rest without worries. There is a small shopping mall nearby as well as supermarkets. Upper town is only 20 minutes by walk or you can simply take a tram. The WiFi here is very fast. I would recommend this place. I would highly recommend taking a walking tour of this city, currently a lot of the landmarks are under construction due to the huge earthquakes of 2020. Walking around the town is fascinating. See the huge titled roof of St. Mark’s Church, visit Lotrščak Tower, wander the small streets and take a ride on the shortest funicular. A little out of the way in terms of those who are spending their time in the old town but no more than 5 minutes walk away from the Gric Park and just 2 minutes walk away from the Gric Tunnel entrance. A fairly small but quiet and calm park located just beside the main lower town square of Ban Jelacic square. It’s relatively compact within the park but you can find benches lining the sides where locals enjoy sitting. An early morning arrival ensures for ultimate peace in this area. When I arrived, there were workers cleaning up the grounds and fixing plants around the main park area. The city streets and landmarks transform into a magical wonderland of light installations and interactive displays that captivate the senses. The festival offers a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches that showcase the city's cultural heritage and contemporary art scene made by many international artists. From mesmerizing light shows to interactive installations, the festival offers an immersive experience that engages all the senses. Overall, the Zagreb Festival of Lights is an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Croatia's capital city. It must be said that it's also a great exercise and that it's probably better to try to see in 2 days rather than 1. Also, try avoiding the weekend because it gets crowded. It was near the city centre, small but convenient. You can easily walk to the city centre. There were also a lovely bakery and gelato shop nearby. Getting There - we booked a Rental Car, we were picked up from the airport. recommended for anyone ever travelling to Croatia. other than that, there’s affordable public transportation commuting between the airport and the city, with day-tickets starting at 4€. Attractions - the Time square in the heart of Zagreb is certainly a head-turner, as well as the old trams. Hotels - a little east of the city Center, one can find multiple affordable and idyllic hotels to stay for the night. Food & Restaurants - number 1 Recommendation: Nokturno. very affordable (Italian) restaurant, with a wide selection of local foods as well. if you want to make your taste buds dance, this is a must. Shopping - anywhere around the city centre. What a great way to celebrate Halloween or in Croatia All Saints’ Day than to go to north Zagreb at the foots of the Medvenica mountain and check out the Mirogoj cemetery. This amazing attraction was built in the Austrian Hungarian empire with huge brick walls and stunning baroque architecture. the mausoleums of prominent Zagreb aristocracy are scattered around and the forests in the background sets a tranquil and mellow ambiance. The best time to head out is in autumn when the leaves change colour and the fog sets in. make sure not to stay too long because as the sun sets. the fog gets heavier and heavier. #fallingforfall

What a great time to take a stroll around the great Zagreb fog. It’s very interesting to experience a very heavy fog, something very unique to Central Europe and the uk for a matter of fact. But either way. what better place to be than next to the Esplanada hotel in downtown Zagreb. The hotel features some amazing history as it was built for the orient express and was one of the stops from Paris to Istanbul. Although it is a great place to be during summer. the autumn time is a special time when there are less tourists and one can take in all the sights and sounds of the city. Zagreb really is a city filled with parks. Which isn’t surprising as it ranked one of the greenest cities by area and volume of trees and greenery in Europe. Ribnjak park is a huge park right behind the great Zagreb cathedral. before in the past it would be a place where teenagers would go in the evening and hang out. But now it’s gotten much better and commercialised. With festivals and picnics being organised. As with many of the parks in Zagreb it is situated in the very Center. a walk away from historic monuments such as the cathedral, Jelacic Square and the Dolan market. This is the place to be during a nice autumn day. A great place to host a picnic or just relax on the grass Zrinjevac has a great vibe with fountains and a good amount of statues dedicated to the people that left their mark on the City of Zagreb and beyond. At both ends of the park one can find old weather measuring equipment from the late 19th century. This is very interesting to see because expect for being functional measuring equipment they are also very nice works of art. I would definitely recommend this park to tourists as well as any locals in the area as this park is very close to the Center of Zagreb next to Ban Jelacic Trg. #fallingforfall

One place that should not be missed in Zagreb are the Botanical Gardens. these gardens have been around since the mid 19th century and are still thriving today. This place is smack in the middle of Zagreb right next to the Esplenada Hotel and a 5 minute walk from the grand central train station. It’s crazy to think that next to a busy street and a railway there is a small little forest nestled between the busy intersections. but the best thing about this place is that is it sunken into the ground a-little which blocks all the sounds of life outside. Maksimirska Park in the Center of Zagreb is a must see attraction in the city. Right downtown next to the football stadium and the Zagreb zoo lies a huge forest for a park. Built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This park mixes forest areas with well kept lawns and quaint baroque architecture. It is definitely a great place to come with friends and set up a picnic or stroll up the little hill located in the Center to old style cafe on top. it is very easy to get there. there is plenty of parking opposite the road and trams regularly stop at the entrance. Most of the locals in Zagreb know about Sljeme and the wonderful hiking trails that lead up to the top of Medvenica mountain. aka (Bear Mountain). disclaimer. no more bears anymore. But in all seriousness this hike is amazing especially in the fall time. the leaves change colour. the temperature is perfect for a brisk hike and the trails and scenic, with a number to choose from. Once you reach the top there are a couple of cabins to choose to eat from. normally the bean stew is the most popular choice with home made sausages and strudel. you can seldom find a country in Europe which contains many beautiful islands . one of these excepts is Croatia. the country located in the northwestern part of Balkan Peninsula. the Capital of Croatia is ' Zagreb'. is in the north of the country. in Zagreb we visited ( Tkalčiceva street), many pubs , restaurants and people around the world. (St. Mark's church) was the second beautiful place that we visited. also ( Cathedral of the Assumption) was worthy to visit. after Zagreb , we visited (Dubrovnik old town), its most glamorous tourist place in Croatia. after that (Dalmatian islands) is amazing spot there to visit and many other islands. Zagreb is the biggest city in Croatia and it has amazing public transportation. But it doesn’t hurt it be in the Centre of the city within walking distance of all the major landmarks. Hotel Dubrovnik is just there. In the heart of the city this giant structure feels timeless. it isn’t modern. but it isn’t heritage. Yet it’s both at the same time. The rooms are nice and elegant, Art Deco. and the main hallway opens up to the towering glass windows on the outside. The buffet is good for breakfast with a couple of different restaurant options on the first floor including steak and the service is spectacular. The location is one of the main features. It is on the main square and parliament, the main market place and other tourist attractions are only a 10 minute walk. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the weekend tourist or for a couples getaway. especially during Christmas when Zagreb hosts its winter Christmas Gala right next to the hotel. 😊 #christmasgiveaway
