Xiong Xiong's former residence is his family's old house, a Qing Dynasty Gan-style building, now a red education base. There are many old trees outside the house, and the fields are full of blooming rapeseed flowers, making for a beautiful scene. Wanzai Ancient City was one of the highlights of this trip. The travel guides were full of praise, but it was a big disappointment when we got there. I have walked through many ancient cities, towns, and villages, but this was the first time I saw one that was renovated to look like new, no different from the pseudo-ancient buildings popular everywhere.
