One day of
One day of sea turtle volunteers in the Indian Ocean, perhaps the happiest job in the world
previous impressions of sea turtles, limited to seeing their graceful swimming poses while visiting the aquarium and diving. This time it was different. I spent a day as a turtle conservation volunteer in Galle, Sri Lanka.
The work includes understanding the habits of turtles, cooking turtles, feeding turtles, cleaning up garbage in the sea, searching for turtle eggs... Volunteer partners from different countries are seriously engaged.
The most touching part is to release baby turtles on the beach. Looking at the little guy who had just hatched for two days and struggled to climb the sea, what could be more cured than this!

Swinging by the seaside in Sri Lanka | The most soothing sky leap.
When visiting the southern coast of Sri Lanka, you must try this visually stunning "seaside swing" experience!
Standing on the beach, tied to a sturdy tree with thick ropes, the swing propels you out with an unbeatable ocean view and crashing waves in the background.
Especially during sunset, the photos you take will be masterpieces, capturing dynamic shots with just one swing✨
📍Recommended seaside swing locations:
Dalawella Beach (the most iconic, with breathtaking sunset views) - the place I visited
Unawatuna / Tangalle / Mirissa beaches also have similar attractions installed
💰Price reminder: Always negotiate❗❗❗❗❗
The listed price might start at 1000 LKR per person, but remember to haggle!
👉 A reasonable price is 300–500 LKR per person
You can negotiate for "free photos" or "group discounts"—a friendly smile and a few words usually help lower the price.
🎥 Photography tips:
📸 Ask the staff on-site to give you a push (some locations charge an extra 100 LKR); swinging higher makes for better shots!
👗 Wear flowy dresses or shirts—when the wind blows and the light shines, the photos will look magical!
⏰ Best time to visit: 9–11 AM or 4–6 PM, when the sunlight is perfect and the weather isn’t too hot.
⚠️ Important notes:
Swing ropes vary in height; always check the stability of the ropes and ensure there are no sharp stones in the sand below before swinging.
Some swings are located on private beaches, which may require a small entrance fee (up to 100 LKR).
Avoid swinging during rainy weather or high tide, as slippery conditions can lead to injuries.

A clean and tidy guesthouse, Sixth Sense Hostel🛏️🇱🇰
Sixth Sense Hostel is located about 30 minutes by bus from the center of Gall, Sri Lanka.
The warm atmosphere of a guesthouse and the location surrounded by nature make it popular with backpackers.
The clean room has a fresh citrus scent. There is also a spacious kitchen where guests can interact, so it is recommended for those who are new to guesthouses.
Just step out of the guesthouse and you will find palm trees growing everywhere, and you can take a tuk-tuk to the beach right away. (You can call a tuk-tuk with the app Pick me.)
[Best season]
January to February (dry season)
[Access]
・About 3 to 4 hours by car from Colombo city or Bandaranaike International Airport✈️
・Can also be accessed from the nearest train station or bus stop.

The Slow Life of Galle Fort
In Galle, you will feel that time passes very slowly.
Galle Fort was built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch. This old town combines European and South Asian architectural styles and is said to be the most expensive place in Sri Lanka in terms of real estate.
The fort is very close to the train station and bus station. If you stay inside or around the fort, you can walk or rent a small electric vehicle to explore Galle.
There are many cafes in the fort, and I recommend a bar called Ropewalk, which has many innovative cocktails that you can try!
Galle has two Spa Ceylon locations, one near the exit and one in the old town. The one in the old town offers spa services, but you need to make a reservation in advance. Both locations offer a promotion: if you spend more than 30,000 rupees and buy one of their promoted products, you will receive a small gift pack containing six samples. The Colombo branch does not offer this promotion!
To see the stilt fishermen, go to the town of Katugoda, about a 20-minute drive away. However, don't wait until sunset to go, as the fishermen will have finished work and gone home. If you want to take photos, go earlier. You need to negotiate the price with the fishermen before they go up on the stilts; otherwise, you will only see empty poles. Taking photos of the fishermen costs one price, and going up on the stilts yourself costs another.
Lastly, I highly recommend a restaurant that I personally think is much better than Dutch Trails in Negombo: Black & White! It is located on a beach about a 15-minute drive from the old town. There are many tourists there. The restaurants are all on the beach, so you can enjoy playing in the sand while eating. Sitting there in the evening is very comfortable, with the starlit sky above. The seafood is very fresh, the seasoning is good, and the cocktails are quite strong.
The day we went, there seemed to be some local event going on, with many locals around. We joined in the fun but ended up getting stuck in the street and had a hard time getting out... Lesson learned: don't join the crowd when there are too many people; just go back the way you came!
You can take a seaside train from Galle to Colombo. It takes about 2-2.5 hours, which is not too long.

Unawatuna,
Unawatuna, known as the most beautiful beach in the whole of Lanka. It is actually just a seaside village, because the hotel industry is also developed by the beach, there are many family inns and hotels, and gradually become a favorite place for tourists. Not far from here, Kogal, who can see the sorghum fisherman, is now a landmark in southern Sri Lanka. However, the poles in the shallow waters on the shore are for the show. If you want to take pictures, you have to pay. In the deep water, there is also a real high mast. It is the pole of the real fishing man. Because it is far from the shore, it is necessary to swim in the water. The fisherman is very hot.
tips: The sorghum fishermen can see from the coast of Kogal to the beaches of Mirissa. Generally, the fishermen appear in the morning and evening. If they shoot, they need to pay a small amount of consumption.

Unawatuna,
Unawatuna, Sri Lanka's most prone to large beaches / Unawatuna Beach next to the hh/
Galle ancient city is the most popular coastline in Sri Lanka. Even so, the early morning and evening walk in the crescent There are not too many tourists on the slender and soft beach.
The waves of the Indian Ocean in April are more powerful than those encountered in the past few years. When I went to the sorghum fisherman, I saw a bad child who climbed the stilts and took pictures.
Wait until the evening, take a tripod, find a good position in front of a pile of reefs, ISO to the lowest, take advantage of this short blue time, record the silky sea in Figure 1 with a slow shutter speed And the lights in the ancient city of Galle in the distance
Dominic.
As I said,
As I said, this breakfast is really awakened with the sound of the waves.
Although the DJ music downstairs last night is still going to the middle of the night
, but the sound of the clear waves in the morning seems to be gone. Wake up gas
early morning, there are too many tourists on the coast. At this time, the beach is quiet and quiet
under the eaves of the store, the ornaments with coral fragments are not easy to forget the days at the beach / Hh/maybe because the Russians who are too cold in Russia are from Russia and even hang the Russian flag

Housed in
Housed in a renovated Dutch colonial building, the hotel is a cultural heritage hotel ~
very attentive service, there is a waiter at the door to welcome drink, and someone to help carry the luggage to the room~
hotel Very large, with 2 swimming pools and a large garden with lush bamboo forests, woods, ponds, frangipani trees, lawns, great! It feels like I am back to the resort in Bali~
We live on the first floor. When we open the door, we can sit on the private veranda and enjoy the view of the pool garden. The only drawback is that we live on the first floor and there are more mosquitoes. Point~
