Toledo is a recommended day-trip destination for those who go to Madrid. It’s only an hour-train away from Atocha station in central Madrid and there are trains almost every hour. The train ticket can be under €20 depending what class you would like to sit. If you plan to walk around the ancient city, remember to bring your hat/ umbrella / sunscreen if you’re worried about getting freckles or tanned because there is not much shade or cover in the city unless you stay indoor. I did not have anything and walked under the sun for 6 hours… and my skin needs a lot of first-aid afterwards. Recommended to have a walking tour both in the centre where all the shops are and also up the hills and lookouts. Also there are a few museums if you fancy learning more about the local cultures. This time we visited the ancient city of Toledo, not far from Madrid, and stayed at the Alfonso VI Hotel in the city center. The hotel has a medieval feel and is surrounded by iron soldiers, making it a great place to check in. The room we stayed in was said to be a triple room, but it was actually a double room with an extra bed, so it was quite crowded. The bathroom had a bathtub, and I liked the terrace the most, with a great view. The hotel includes breakfast, the food is ok, but you need to pay attention to the dirty dishes, as the dishwasher may not be able to clean them thoroughly, so it is best to bring your own cleaning supplies. The hotel is in a good location, basically all the attractions are within walking distance, and it's great to stroll through the ancient city. Toledo's street are full of history, this has been the only place I've been able to see that you're able to forge your own sword or knife, the only problem is finding a way to send it back home, because I don't think you can travel with a sword next to you. #givethanks
